At Sugar and Spice Dachshunds, we are dedicated to raising healthy and well-socialized mini Dachshund puppies. Our high quality, AKC registered longhair mini Dachshund puppies are raised with utmost love and care in our home in Cherry Valley, CA. We firmly believe in and prioritize ethical breeding practices by health testing all of our adult breeding dogs, carefully selecting those with good DNA and desirable temperaments, and placing our puppies with only the most capable and loving families.

My name is Susan, and I am the owner of Sugar and Spice Dachshunds. LLC. When I was 12, my family bought our first black and tan mini Dachshund, which I named Missy. I remember that first day we had her home, her stubby little legs barely clearing the grass as she hopped and hopped with all her might, tiring after only a foot or two because of her tiny size. I remember those dainty little puppy yaps as she tried to get our attention and the sweet way she peered up at us before covering us in puppy breath kisses. It was then, at age 12, that I first fell in love with the breed. We had a lot of great years with Missy. She was affectionate, loyal, stubborn, and protective, all hallmark traits of a Dachshund.

Unfortunately, at the age of 10, Missy suffered a back injury after an unfortunate accident that left her paralyzed, having seizures, and heavily medicated just to remain calm and comfortable. At that point, it was a miserable existence for her, and as hard as it was, we knew we had to do the right thing and say goodbye to our best friend of 10 years. It was tough, and she will always be loved and remembered. My experience with Missy taught me a lot about Dachshund health and safety. Yes, Dachshunds have some serious health risks, such as IVDD (a disease affecting their mobility) and PRA (a progressive eye disease), but every breed has something to look out for. Trust me, Dachshunds are worth every ramp or step you install in your home! They are a wonderful breed and will bring an immeasurable amount of love and laughter to your family.
